Rules
- A lot of the rules below can be summed up in one super-rule: "Don't Be a Jackass." Keep your fellow players' temperaments and personalities in mind, and treat them with respect and dignity. If you feel like you've been wronged, keep in mind that the offending party, despite whatever deficiencies they may or may not have, is capable of honest mistakes or wrong-headed assumptions - just like everyone else.
- No wank. Seriously, keep it out. Period. If you have a grievance, please let us know, and we'll try to help the involved parties talk things out. It is never too far gone to attempt mediation.
- IC does not equal OOC. Some characters aren't going to get along, and that makes perfect sense. (It'd hardly be particularly interesting if everyone immediately allied, after all.) That being said, this doesn't mean conflicts should leak over into OOC issues or vice versa. Harassing a character just because you've got a bone to pick with their player or harassing a mun due to IC issues is not only discouraged, it's strictly forbidden in all cases. In the event that you feel like your character is being harassed because of OOC issues or vice versa, please contact the mods - we'll sort out whatever issues may be present as quickly as possible.
- On a related note, IC actions do in fact have IC consequences. As thrilling and dramatic as it may sound to storm the gates of Heaven or Hell, doing so will get your character killed very, very quickly. This is, of course, perfectly acceptable; however, you should be prepared to deal with whatever problems spawn from any ill-made decisions, no matter how IC they were. For instance, if you publicly kill off another character, then it only makes sense that the people who know that character might try to avoid associating with the murderer of their friend. Or, you know, possibly try to put a chainsaw through said murderer's face.
In general, if what you're doing would affect other characters (especially if it's something major), you should try and make a post about it in the OOC community or contact the involved muns before you do so.
- Playercest, while not expressly forbidden, is generally frowned upon. In certain cases, some characters of yours will have to interact with your other characters, or their demons as played by you - and that's perfectly fine! However, in order to encourage characters to interact with one another, contact with one's own characters will not count towards activity checks. To minimize the risk of required playercest, players are allowed one character per fandom per player.
- Godmoding is absolutely forbidden, with one clause; if the other player gives you express permission to use their character in your own tag (ideally through their own tag, to create a record), then feel free. Otherwise, taking over another character's actions is a gigantic no-no.
- Absolutely no metagaming. You may hear other players speak about their plots in-chat, or otherwise divulge relevant knowledge OOC. However, if your character has no way of learning that information, then they shouldn't know it. “I asked an NPC” is not a valid excuse for knowing other, player-based plots. If other characters let you in on information, that's one thing, and – if cleared with a mod or the necessary player – you can obviously find things out IC as well, even ahead of everyone else. (Especially if you've got a character who snoops around anyway!) However, this rule is final: even if other players have no problems telling you a character might be dying soon, you're not allowed to magically know who's going to die in-game unless there's an IC way of finding it out.
- This is an M-rated RP, and it has the potential to contain any number of M-rated things. Much like other M rated games, you must be seventeen years or older to play it. (If we find out you've lied about your age on an application, you will be immediately and permanently banned. No exceptions.) All logs containing explicit sexual content or excessive violence must also be friends-locked and locked to the 18 and over age group. It doesn't matter if you're mature enough to handle it, and only a few months too young; both these rulings have justifications and are final.
- Activity checks will be taken once every two months. In general, we'll be asking for at least one detailed third-person log per activity period, but some equivalent in journal conversations is just fine too. Considering the bent of the comm, narratives will count.
By contrast, there are no app periods. Apps are always open, and we will check and process apps every week, usually over the weekend.
- Journal and IM conversations go in our Journal community, not in your character's personal LJ. This way, we can cut down on the necessity for the constant adding and removing of friends (of course, you're welcome to do this anyways) while still preserving the ability to stay on top of the community's posts at large.
Apart from a title and mention of the log's status (Active/Complete to describe activity, and Open/Semi-Open/Closed to describe permission for a random character to join), RP logs should have this template at the top, before the start of the log proper:
- Characters: (self-explanatory)
- Type: (Large-scale mission, Small-scale mission, or Normal)
- Time: (this can be just a general sense of relation to events, like "a day or so before Ishtar announced Bread and Chocolate Day")
- Location: (Just a redundancy with the tags, but it's better to be thorough)
- Summary: (general log content synopsis)
- Warnings: (any notes about explicit gore or sex or disturbing themes should go here.)
- All journal entries/logs must also have the correct tags. Tag all entries with the involved characters' names and "Elysium," "Binah," "Keter Elyon," "Mu," "Vortex World," or "Amala Network" to specify the location. Tag Journal or IM posts to the journal community with "journal" or "IM," respectively.
- Try not to keep other people hanging in logs, especially if multiple people are involved. In the event that you'll be unable to post for a few days, either ask the others in the log as to their preferences or do one of the following:
- Give temporary reign over your character's actions to another player.
- Explain the situation, and obtain their permission as to not posting.
- Figure out a way to temporarily remove your character from the log (Assumed actions fall under this category).
