Deities with dominion over countries and nations. Much like their Amatsu cousins, Kunitsu are varied in ability and temperament.

One of the sons of Okuninushi. As part of the pacification of the "Central Land of Reed Plains", Take-Mikazuchi, envoy of the heavenly kami, confronted Okuninushi and asked him to relinquish the land. Kotoshironushi was entrusted with his father's response, whereupon Kotoshironushi pledged allegiance to the amatsukami and hid in the ocean.

The Japanese god of words, thought to be the deification of echoes. He is said to proclaim good and bad in a single word, and all words uttered by him come true.

The goddess of life in Shinto myth. She once mediated between Izanagi and Izanami during their confrontation in Yomi, the land of the dead.

The daughter of two lesser kunitsukami, Ashinazuchi and Tenazuchi. She would later become the wife of the god of storms, Susa-no-O, after he slew Yamata-no-Orochi, who wished to eat her.

A giant god who stood guard during the amatsukami's descent to Earth. His great size and strength intimidated the gods away until Ame-no-Uzume convinced him to welcome them. Later, the two of them married.

The diminutive Japanese god of medicine and brewing sake. A good friend of Okuninushi's, he arrived in Izumo riding in a seed pod and wearing a bird skin. The two collaborated to form the land and defenses against disease and wild animals.

A god of the earth. He fell in love with Susa-no-O's daughter, Suseri-hime, and was tested by Susa-no-O and found worthy of his help. With Susa-no-O's aid, he became the ruler of Izumo. After the descent of the amatsukami, he became ruler of the world of spirits.

A major deity in Shinto myth. Clay dolls were often sculpted in its image. Since it was worshipped by rebels, the dolls came to be seen as a symbol of defiance.

Start: Dragon Eye, Samarecarm, Prayer, Makakaja, Dekunda, Megidolaon
The blossom-princess and symbol of delicate earthly life. She is the daughter of the mountain god Ohoyamatsumi, and the wife of Ninigi-no-Mikoto. She is often considered an avatar of Japanese life, especially since her symbol is the sakura, or cherry blossom.
